Mysore/Mysuru: Orissa Association Mysore (OAM) has organised Cauvery Music and Dance Festival in Navaranga of the ancient temple of Sri Venkateswara and Bhoga Narasimha with consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, situated on the banks of Cauvery, Srinivasa Kshetra, Belagola, Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya, tomorrow (Oct. 22) at 2 pm.
Lakshminarayanan, Trustee and Director, Vishvakshema Trust, Belagola, Dr. K.B. Ganapathy, Founder-Editor, Star of Mysore, M.S. Krishna Murthy, retd. Professor and Chairman, Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Archaeology, University of Mysore and Dharmadhikari H. Ramachandra, Hariharan & Co., Chartered Accounts, will be the chief guests.
Narasimhaiah, retd. Engineer, Dept. of Archaeology, Government of Karnataka and Dodda Yajamana Srinivasa Gowda will be the guests of honour.
Puja to Lord Venkateswara and Bhoga Narasimha will be held between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm; Mahamangalarati between 1 pm and 1.30 pm. [Puja has been sponsored by Dr. Gitanjali Misra & D.K. Misra and family].
Music and Dance programmes will be held 2 pm to 4.30 pm. Vid. Dr. B.S. Srikanthan will render Karnatak vocal; M. Preethi will present Odissi dance; Aditi Gopinath – Bharatanatyam, Madhumita Naveen – Kuchipudi.
About the Temple: This ancient temple belongs to the Government of Karnataka under Deputy Commissioner (DC), Mandya. It was miraculously discovered by Orissa Association Mysore in extreme dilapidated condition in the year 2003. On written approval of DC, Mandya, the temple was handed oner to Orissa Association Mysore in 2005 for renovation and restoration. And with the direct involvement of renowned Archaeologists like late Dr. Nagaraja Rao, retd. Director General, ASI, Government of India, Dr. M.S. Krishna Murthy and Engineer Narasimhaiah, the renovation and restoration works were carried in total systematic manner with no compromise of technicality. Now the 2nd stage has been completed leaving a few more works to be taken up.
