Over 1.80 lakh people visit Mysuru Zoo this Dasara

Mysuru: This year, approximately 1.80 lakh people visited the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, famous as Mysuru Zoo and Karanji Lake Nature Park during Dasara.

According to a press release from the Zoo Executive Director D. Mahesh Kumar, since the festival began on Oct. 3, the visitor numbers have been impressive: 11,525 on Oct. 3; 11,172 on Oct. 4; 17,810 on Oct. 5; 26,238 on Oct. 6; 14,877 on Oct. 7; 10,044 on Oct. 8; 14,588 on Oct. 9 and 12,997 on Oct. 10.

Over 23,382 visitors saw the Zoo on Ayudha Puja day (Oct. 11), 36,467 on Vijayadashami (Oct. 12), and 614 additional visitors, bringing the total to 1,79,714 for the Zoo and Karanji Lake Nature Park.

On Vijayadashami, the highest attendance was recorded, with 36,467 visitors, marking an increase of 10,000 compared to last year. The Zoo’s Executive Director noted that Sundays and Ayudha Puja day, also saw a significant influx of visitors.

In the past two years, during Dasara, the Zoo and Karanji Lake welcomed 1,83,002 visitors in 2023 and 1,69,993 in 2022 over the same ten-day period. From April to September this year, a total of 18,36,163 visitors came, compared to 18,94,446 in 2023 and 14,61,153 in 2022.

The Executive Director expressed gratitude to all visitors, security personnel, volunteers and Zoo staff for their cooperation in maintaining cleanliness around Zoo and Karanji Lake during the Dasara festival.
