Mysore/Mysuru: Coming to the aid of its Pourakarmikas, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has extended benefits totally worth Rs.17.14 crore to 11,363 Pourakarmikas in a period of 3 years.
MCC Additional Commissioner M.J. Roopa said that under the SC/ST 24.10 percent scheme of the MCC, as many as 11,363 Pourkarmikas have been given benefits in the years 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23.
Giving a breakup of the benefits, Roopa said that Rs.7.41 crore provided by the State Finance Commission (SFC) and MCC has been spent under the Scheme for 3,528 SC employees welfare, while Rs.1.49 crore remains unspent. An amount of Rs. 2.93 crore has been spent for welfare of ST employees and Rs. 66.26 lakh remains unspent.
Likewise, Rs. 6.79 crore provided by the SFC and MCC funds has been spent for the welfare of 6,244 Pourakarmikas, while Rs. 3.28 crore remains unspent. Overall, it can be said that Rs. 17.14 crore of the Rs. 22.55 crore action plan of the MCC has been spent for the welfare of 11,363 Pourakarmikas in the three years, Roopa said adding that the SFC funds and the MCC funds under 24.10 percent scheme meant for SC/ST communities are being spent only for the welfare of Pourakarmikas through benefits and facilities.
