Over 20 suffer dog bite

Nanjangud: Over 20 people have suffered dog bite in a stray dog attack at Hullahalli village in Nanjangud taluk of the district recently.

Among those who received the dog bites include children and elderly persons, who were treated at Community Health Centre in the village and private hospitals.

The victims are identified as follows: Nischita, aged 4 years, Anitha, 35, Vinoda, 18, Anjali, 12 Dhanush, 5, Ravikumar, 12, Armaan, 3, Savitha, 37, Girish, 40, Usab Khan, 7 and Kalaswamy, 36.

The children were returning home on Thursday (June 26) after school hours at 4 pm, when a stray dog went on a biting spree.

The dog attack was also reported from Nayakara Beedhi, Ambedkar Double Road and in front of the bus stand, where a person waiting for bus was bitten by the dog.

The victims received bites on hand, leg, back and thigh regions, it is said. Though the villagers along with Gram Panchayat (GP) personnel made a bid to catch the dog, the efforts went in vain.

According to the doctors at Government Hospital, Hullahalli, on Thursday alone, anti-rabies vaccine was injected to 11 patients of dog bite.
