Mysuru: Over 3,000 candidates appeared for the written test conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) today for recruitment to the post of Excise Sub-Inspectors, at ten centres across the city.
A total of 5,516 candidates had registered for taking the written test at 10 centres in Mysuru — St. Joseph’s High School, Jayalakshmipuram, Maharani’s College, Valmiki Road, Mahajana Public School, SBRR Mahajana PU College, Sathya Sai Baba School, Jayalakshmipuram, Nataraja Women’s College, University Evening College, K. Puttaswamy PU College, Gokulam 3rd Stage, Vidyavardhaka Polytechnic and K.P. Convent, Gokulam 3rd Stage.
Out of the 5,516 registered candidates, 3,368 candidates appeared for the exam, while 2,148 candidates were absent, according to sources.
The written test was held by the KPSC at various places across the State for recruitment to 59 posts of Excise SIs.
The test comprised two-papers — Descriptive paper (10 am to 11.30 am) and OMR paper (2 pm to 3.30 pm). The city Police had clamped ban orders in 200 metre radius of all the exam centres from 6 am to 6 pm today, by invoking Section 35 of Karnataka Police Act, for smooth conduct of the exam.
