Mysuru/Mysore: “Overuse of mobile phones is causing multiple health problems including depression and anxiety in youngsters,” opined District Co-operative Union President H.V. Rajeev.
He was speaking after inaugurating the district level Sports meet jointly organised by Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Sri Talakaveri Mahila Vidya Samsthe and Sri Talakaveri Seva mattu Kreeda Samskruthika Sangha at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in city recently.
“Youngsters should take to sports to curb this addiction. They have the responsibility of building a healthy society,” he said.
Nehru Yuva Kendra District Youth Coordinator S. Siddharamappa also addressed the gathering. MCDCC Bank Chairman G.D. Harish Gowda, retired Professor K.A. Nanaiah, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Deputy Director K. Suresh and Sri Talakaveri Mahila Vidya Samsthe President Nalini Tammaiah were present.
Over 250 boys and girls participated in the sports meet held yesterday. Boys took part in Kabaddi, Volleyball, Shot put, Carrom, Ball in the bucket, 100 meters and 200 meters Running race whereas girls participated in Throw ball, Kho-kho, Passing the ball, 100 meters Running race, Lucky corner, Carrom, Ball in the bucket and walking contests.
