Mysuru: An inhuman act by the owner of a house preventing a tenant from keeping the dead body of his son in front of the house for the relatives to pay their last respects has been reported from Muneshwara Nagar in Kanakagiri here on Saturday.
It is reported that one Veerabhadrappa had taken a house belonging to one Dakshayini on lease and were residing in the house since a year.
On May 27 night, Veerabhadrappa’s son Mahesh (40) died due to illness and Dakshayini prevented the family members from keeping the dead body in front of the house and told them to take the body elsewhere, which led to a wordy duel between Dakshayini and the family members of the deceased. However, Dakshayini insisted on shifting the body elsewhere.
When their repeated pleas failed to convince the house owner, Veerabhadrappa then placed the body of his son on the road and erected a shamiyana. Soon, rains began to pour which added to their misery. The family members had to hold umbrellas the whole night to prevent the body from getting drenched. After the last rites yesterday morning, some neighbours took Dakshayini to task for her inhuman act.
