The All-India Tennis Association (AITA) had organised the prestigious National Series Tennis Tournament for the under-12 age category from Aug. 21 to 26. The event, held at the renowned Ash Tennis Academy in Hyderabad, saw a good gathering of budding tennis stars from across the country, with a particular focus on the girls’ category.
In the doubles category, the duo of Padmapriya Ramesh Kumar and Srishti Kiran, both hailing from Karnataka, emerged victorious, displaying exceptional teamwork and coordination.
In the singles category, Padmapriya Ramesh from Karnataka showed remarkable skills. She progressed through the tournament, reaching the finals and secured runner-up position.
With participation from various regions such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal, the tournament showcased depth of tennis talent in India. A total of 48 young athletes competed throughout tournament, highlighting their skills, determination and sportsmanship.
Padmapriya Ramesh Kumar is currently studying in the 6th standard at Excel Public School in Mysuru. She is the daughter of Dr. Malathi Priya, Conservator of Forests (CF), Mysuru Circle and Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar, CF and Director of Bandipur Tiger Reserve.
