Mysuru: Accusing the State Government of failing to keep its promise on the announcement of Category-2A reservation for Panchamasali Lingayat Sub-sect, Koodalasangama Lingayat, Panchamasali Mutt Seer Sri Basavajaya Mrutyunjaya Swamiji has warned of re-launching the agitation, which went on for over a year in 2020-21, in Bengaluru and other parts of the State.
Addressing a press meet at Hosamutt premises in Agrahara here yesterday, he said that it was earlier planned to hold a Statewide hunger stir in front of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner in all districts and in front of the residence of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai at Shiggavi in Haveri district on May 23. But the incessant rains has forced them to postpone the agitation, he said adding that the indefinite agitation to press for reservation would be re-launched soon, with the holding of a hunger stir in front of the CM’s residence at Bengaluru.
Expressing disappointment that the Government had repeatedly failed in keeping its promise on reservation, Basavajaya Mrutyunjaya Swamiji targeted the CM for showing utter disregard for the Government’s promise.
Community leaders H.S. Nanjappa, A. Mallesh, Cable Mahesh, Deepak, Kumar, Srishaila Gouda, Manjunath and others were present at the press meet.
