Mysuru: Claiming that Bensons International Academy School at Nagarthahalli in Jayapura hobli had shut down without prior notice, parents of children who secured admission in the School under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, have urged the authorities to provide seats to their wards in other schools.
Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, Shambulingaswamy, one of the parents, said that the School had about 200 children, out of which 12 children had secured admission under the RTE Act a couple of years ago. Although the School which started in 2007 with CBSE curriculum had been running well, they learnt that the School management had issued Transfer Certificates (TC) to all other students. But they (parents of RTE children) came to know about the closure of the school only when they took their wards on June 1, when the school was supposed to reopen for the new academic year, he said.
Shocked by the closure of the School, they went to the BEO to complain; the BEO, stating that CBSE Schools do not come under their jurisdiction, directed them (parents) to approach Jayapura Police. But the Police are not acting on the complaint, he alleged and urged the authorities concerned to come to their rescue. A few parents of children admitted to the school under RTE Act were present at the meet.
