Mysuru: Marking ‘World Environment Day,’ eight environmental activists of the city were conferred ‘Parisara Snehi’ award at a programme organised by Parivartanam Public Charitable Trust at Tagaduru Ramachandra Rao Park, Chamundipuram, here this morning.
The awardees were Sridhar Murthy, Rajashekar, H.B. Bhaskar, K.R. Rajiv, Suresh, Pradeep Gowda, Basavaraju and A. Santosh.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Corporator M.V. Ramprasad said that it was important to sensitise the public on the significance of World Environment Day.
Highlighting the need for everyone’s involvement in saving our environment, he observed that the Society must be more educated on the urgent need of saving our nature.
Pointing out that natural environment is the lifeline of many living creatures, he called upon the citizens to promote gardening in their premises just as they take care of their wards.
Two neem trees were planted in the Park to mark the occasion.
Trust President Vinay Kanagal, Sandhya Suraksha Trust President Nataraj Jois and others were present.
