Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar won the trust vote in the 40-member Assembly with 23 MLAs backing him. One Congress MLA Vishwajit Rane abstained from voting, bringing down the required majority mark to 20. NCP’s Churchill Alemao also voted in favour of the BJP Government.
Later, speaking to mediapersons, Parrikar said that the resolution motion was passed with 22 to 16, with Speaker supporting the ruling benches.
“We have proved before the people of India, and as promised we have the support of 23 MLAs. They (Congress) didn’t have the numbers from the beginning. There was a talk that Digvijay Singh has stepped down as desk in-charge. This happens when you come to Goa only to enjoy and not to work”, he said.
