Mysuru: Online fraudsters, who lured a youth by offering part time job, made him invest Rs. 30.49 lakh by promising good returns and have cheated the youth.
The youth, who lost his money, is Shekar (name changed), a marketing executive and a resident of Ramakrishnanagar in city.
On Aug. 30, Shekar saw a part time job offer on a page in Telegram app, called the number mentioned in the offer and sought details. A woman, who identified herself as Anusha, made Shekar to join ‘1095 Prestige-Earning’ group.
Later, the fraudster woman collected the bank account details of Shekar and transferred Rs. 1,250 to his account to make Shekar believe that it was genuine one. The woman later told Shekar to invest more money and get huge profits for his investment.
Believing her, Shekar and his relatives invested a total of Rs. 30.49 lakh. As Shekar did not receive any response nor did he receive any profit, he realised that he has been cheated and lodged a complaint at city’s CEN Police Station.
