Eight youths booked
Mysore/Mysuru: KRS Police have registered a case against eight youths including four girls for indulging in fun and frolic at KRS Backwaters by violating the lockdown guidelines. The Police have seized a KIA and a Volkswagen car belonging to the youths.
Cases have been registered under Section 51(b) of The National Disaster Management Act-2005 and Section 15(A) of Karnataka Excise Act-1965 along with Section 269 (negligence likely to spread infection) of the IPC against them.
The youths, who entered from the southern side of KRS reservoir in the early hours of yesterday, were seen consuming liquor and dancing to songs being played through car music system. A patrol team headed by Inspector S.P. Swamy of Karnataka State Industrial Force (KSIF), on hearing loud music, found the youths along with two cars and brought them to the Police Station for questioning.
A senior officer said that the youths had violated the protocols including inter-district movement despite ban and entering a restricted area, where they partied and consumed liquor.
It is learnt that as the youths belonged to influential families, there was pressure against the Cops not to book cases. But the swift action by Mandya Police foiled the attempts of the accused to go scot-free.
