Mysuru: A Passing out Parade of the 3rd batch of Women Police Constables, who underwent training at Police Training School, was held at DAR Grounds in Jyothinagar in city this morning.
In all, 217 women passed out in the third batch from the Police Training School today.
Speaking after receiving the guard of honour and inspecting the parade, Director General of Police (DGP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Economic Offences Praveen Sood said that the Police Department has given top priority for recruitment of women in large numbers.
“Fifty per cent of Police cases are women-centric. State has planned to induct 20 per cent of women workforce in coming days against the existing six per cent,” he said.
Mentioning about a majority of women leaving the Department after getting jobs in private sector, he said there is a lot of scope, perks, promotions and opportunities for women in the department now unlike in previous years.
Underling the importance of Police profession, he said that the Department was working towards providing a better working environment for women. He called upon women Police constables who underwent training to work with devotion, professional commitment, have social responsibility and provide justice.
Most of the passed out women Police constables are highly qualified. Among them was one B.E Civil degree holder, 21 Master of Arts, 3 M.Com, 1 M.Sc B.Ed, 1 M.Sc D.Ed, 4 M.A D.Ed, 6 M.A B.Ed, 1 M.A M.Li.Sc., 4 MSW, 76 BA, 18 B.A B.Ed, 1 B.PEd, 20 B.A D.Ed, 1 BA (M.PEd), 22 B.Com, 18 PUC, 1 PUC Nursing, 1 PUC D.Ed,1 TCH, 7 B.Sc, 1 B.B.A, 1 B.B.M, 1 B.C.A, 1 B.Sc B.Ed and 1 had B.S.W.
A. Tara of Shivamogga District received the trophy for overall best trainee.

Outdoor games winners
The first prize was bagged by A. Tara of Shivamogga, Rashmi M.E of Ramanagaram and Shahjan Fakirsab Nadaf of Mangaluru (both second) and Vijayalakshmi of Koppal (third).

Principal of Police Training School Dr. Dharani Devi Malagatti, City Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Karnataka Police Academy Director Vipul Kumar and others were present.
