Mysuru: Roopa Iyer, Sandalwood actress and State Convener of BJP Art and Cultural Cell has urged the Department of Kannada and Culture to release the payment to artistes in the State.
Iyer along with Co-convener of the cell Atmananda, submitted a memorandum to the Director of Kananda and Culture Department Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti at Kannada Bhavan in Bengaluru yesterday. Iyer has stated that, the Department is showing laxity in utilising the funds released by the Government for the cause of art, culture and language, by paying the artistes. Several organisations have been conducting programmes at their own expense, only to land in crisis. The grants for the year 2023-24 has been sanctioned by the Government and is released in the instalments, she added.
