Virajpet: The Perumbadi Road near here linking Kodagu and Kerala, which had caved-in owing to incessant rains last month, has been repaired and buses were allowed to ply on the road from yesterday. Five days ago, the road was thrown upon for Light Motor Vehicles.
However, a ban continues on movement of huge trucks and containers on the repaired road as per the instruction of PWD officials.
Virajpet Block Congress President R.K. Abdul Salam along with PWD Officials inspected the road and after assessing the quality of work done, informed District in-Charge Minister Seetharam and obtained his instruction to reopen the road for movement of buses which used to take a devious route via Kutta and Manandavadi.
Owners of private buses in Kodagu possessing inter-State Permit had appealed Seetharam to clear the road after repairs for movement of buses.
Certain repair works, however, continues on either side of the bridge on Perumbadi Road. However, officials contend that the movement of buses would not hamper the on going works.
