Mandya: PES College of Engineering in Mandya has been encouraging students to take part in various competitions not only at Institute level but also at State and National-levels in all curricular and co-curricular aspects.
In this context, the students of Automobile, Mechanical and Industrial Production Engineering Departments — two teams comprising 27 and 17 students in each team respectively, took part in the National-level GKDC (Go-kart Design Challenge) competition held in February at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
The students designed, implemented and tested the Go-kart (Racing Car) at the prescribed national-level track. To achieve this, the students had to undergo training, in-house technical inspection and driver training programme before entering into the final event consisting of static and dynamic events.
In the final event, both the teams succeeded to excel in the static event comprising Design and Cost Evaluation, Assembly and disassembly tests well within the prescribed time limits.
Further, both teams were allowed to take part in the dynamic event comprising Acceleration/Brake test, Auto Cross, Skid pad and Endurance test (racing).
The student teams have successfully qualified for the final Endurance Test, according to a press release from the College Principal Dr. H.V. Ravindra.
