Bengaluru: Petitioners Snehamayi Krishna and S.P. Pradeep Kumar, in the MUDA case, announced yesterday that they would demand a CBI probe once an FIR is registered against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking to the media after the Special Court entrusted the investigation to the Mysuru Lokayukta, Snehamayi Krishna stated that after legal procedures are initiated and the FIR is lodged, a petition would be submitted to the appropriate Court calling for a CBI investigation.
When questioned about Siddaramaiah’s claim that he had no direct involvement in the alleged scam, neither through signature nor oral orders, Krishna emphasised that direct involvement isn’t necessary.
“Even indirect involvement is as culpable as committing the crime. We have provided ample evidence proving Siddaramaiah’s direct involvement. The High Court’s decision was based on this evidence,” he asserted.
Pradeep Kumar demanded the immediate lodging of an FIR and swift commencement of the investigation. “The accused persons listed in the complaint must be questioned and custodial interrogation is necessary. Siddaramaiah should step down from his position immediately. How can Central leaders, who frequently cite the Constitution in Parliament, tolerate a CM facing FIRs for cheating, forgery and other illegal acts?” he questioned.
He further stated that the need for prosecution is unquestionable. “From 1997 to 2021, multiple transactions related to the MUDA case have taken place. It requires thorough investigation, something beyond the reach of the common man,” he added.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, a key partner in I.N.D.I. Alliance, has already pressed Central Congress leaders on when they plan to demand Siddaramaiah’s resignation. “I’m confident the Congress High Command will act swiftly and secure his resignation,” she remarked.
