The PGL Samsmarana Vedike has organised the 12th Annual PGL Memorial Music Concerts on 13th and 14th of December at Vasudevacharya Bhavana, Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, JLB Road, Mysuru.
On 13th, there will be an instrumental ensemble at 6 pm by the students of Keerthishesha Vid. P.G. Lakshminarayana. The team consists of Vid. G.S. Ramanujam, Vid. V.S. Ramesh, Vidu. Kanchana Eshwarabhat, Vid. A. Radhesh, Vid. M. L. Vadiraj supported by Vid. C. N. Thyagaraju on violin and Vidu. Smitha Srikiran on flute.
On 14th at 6 pm, there will be a Karnatak music vocal concert by Vidu. G.N. Nagamani Srinath accompanied by Vid. N. N. Ganeshkumar on violin, Vid. B.C. Manjunath and Vid. Sunad Anoor on khanjira.
Profile: Vidu. Nagamani Srinath served as Professor and Head of the Department of Music in Maharani’s Arts College at Mysuru and Bengaluru for 30 years. Currently, she is working as Visiting Professor in both Bangalore and Mahaveer Jain Universities. Many teachers of repute including Gowri Kuppuswamy, V. Ramaratnam, R. Vishweshwaran, K.V. Narayana Swamy, T.M. Tyagarajan, D.K. Jayaraman, T. Brinda and Mukta and M.L. Vasanta Kumari enriched her music. She was fortunate to have been trained under the Gurukula system by “Musicians of Musicians” Ramnad Krishnan in Madras. Ramnad Krishnan was one of the most revered exponents of Karnatak music.
Nagamani belongs to an exclusive and elite group of musicians who have held centre stage in the field of Karnatak music for over four decades. Her musical articulation has a magnetic appeal, charm, emotional richness and strikes a chord with both the elite and the common man.
