Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru City and District Retail Druggists Association members submitted a memorandum to Medical Education and Health Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar and District Minister S.T.Somashekar appealing them to treat pharmacists as Corona Warriors and inoculate them with COVID-19 vaccine along with health workers.
Led by Association President M.Raju, Secretary C.K. Arun and Joint Secretary S.Devaraj, they met the Ministers recently in the city.
They said pharmacists were coming under primary contact with Corona positive patients. They worked hard to sell the medicine even during difficult times. Door delivery of medicine was done when the countrywide lockdown was imposed for almost two months. The Association had joined hands with the District Administration in protecting lives of people. While a number of pharmacists have tested Corona positive, five have succumbed to the pandemic. In recognition of their services, the State Government must consider them at the time of vaccination along with other health workers, they added.
Dr.Sudhakar said their demand was genuine and the State Government will definitely consider them at the time of mass inoculation of the vaccine.
