Pillion rider dies in mishap

Mysore/Mysuru: A lady security staff was killed while her colleague sustained severe injuries when a Toyota Innova vehicle hit their two-wheeler near Siddalingapura on Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway this morning.

While the deceased has been identified as Saraswathi (32), wife of Paramesh and a resident of Bevinakuppe in Pandavapura taluk, the injured is Lakshmi. Both were working as security personnel at Narayana Hospital.

As per her daily routine, Saraswathi took a bus from Pandavapura and alighted at Srirangapatna Bus Stand, where Lakshmi was waiting to pick her up.

As they neared Siddalingapura, a car hit the scooter from behind resulting in both falling from the two-wheeler. Saraswathi’s head hit the road median and bled profusely. Lakshmi, on seeing blood oozing from her friend’s head, fell unconscious.

The passersby shifted both to Narayana Hospital, where Saraswathi breathed her last.

NR Traffic Inspector Prasanna Kumar and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and registered a case besides seizing the car and taking its driver into custody.
