Pillion rider killed as tipper vehicle hits bike

Nanjangud: A pillion rider was killed on the spot while the rider sustained serious injuries when a tipper vehicle hit the bike they were riding near Mahadeshwara Layout on Hullahalli Road in the town on Tuesday night.

While the deceased has been identified as Kishore (22), son of Rangaswamy and a resident of Debur village, the seriously injured rider is Prajwal (23) of Duggahalli village, who has sustained injuries on his  hands and legs.

Prajwal is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mysuru.

Kishore and Prajwal, employees of a private finance company, were residing in a rented house in the town.

Prajwal, who had been to Kishore’s house in Debur village, was returning to Nanjangud along with Kishore when a speeding tipper vehicle, which came from Nanjangud side, rammed into the bike near Mahadeshwara Layout, killing Kishore on the spot and leaving Prajwal seriously injured, Traffic Police said.

Nanjangud Traffic Sub-Inspector Siddaraju and staff, who reached the spot, conducted mahazar, seized both the vehicles involved in the accident, besides registering a case.
