Pistol supplier arrested; City Police still in Mumbai

Mysore/Mysuru: In a breakthrough of sorts, the City Police have arrested a person from Mumbai on charges of supplying a pistol that was used to loot gold ornaments from Amruth Gold and Silver Palace, a jewellery store in Vidyaranyapuram here on Aug. 23. 

The pistol was used to kill an innocent bystander. The 9-member gang had robbed the jewellery shop and had shot dead 24-year-old bystander Chandru of Dadadahalli while escaping. 

The pistol supplier has been identified as Rajan, a native of Mumbai and he had sold the weapon for Rs. 50,000. Vidyaranyapuram Police Inspector Raju arrested Rajan. The Police have already arrested eight persons including the mastermind and seven others who actually executed the crime. 

Now with the arrest of Rajan, the total arrests have gone up to nine. One more accused nicknamed ‘Budda’ is yet to be arrested. He is above 60 and he had pocketed most of the gold ornaments, said Police. A Police team has camped in Mumbai in search of the elusive ‘Budda.’
