Bengaluru: The recent meeting between Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and former PM & JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda, has given rise to speculations of a possible tie up between the BJP and the JD(S) in case of a hung Assembly in the 2018 polls.
H.D. Deve Gowda had sought an appointment with the Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to discuss Railway projects in Hassan. But Goyal himself went to Gowda’s Delhi residence and met him. With the BJP Central leadership inclined for a past poll tie up between the BJP and JD(S), Goyal, apart from discussing Railway issues, is also said to have discussed about having a tie up between the two parties post the 2018 Assembly polls.
After the meeting, the former PM and his son H.D. Revanna walked along with Goyal upto the gate of the house and bid him farewell, which has given rise to speculations about a possible tie up between the two parties.
However, Deve Gowda, dismissing reports of political talks between himself and Goyal, said that he demanded the Railway Minister for more trains on Bengaluru-Hassan-Mangaluru line and other Railway projects is Hassan district and no political significance can be attached to the meeting.
