Mysore/Mysuru: Jaagruti, a city-based NGO has complained about the new roads constructed in Vijayanagar 4th Stage saying that it needs immediate attention of the authorities for safety of the drivers.
In a letter to MUDA Commissioner, the Convenor of the NGO S. Arunkumar has said, particularly the 80 ft. Road has a very dense vehicular movement during school hours, specially of the ones who drop and pick up students from NPS International School, Mysuru. There is no scientific approach to cut down the speed of both 2 and 4-wheelers. Unfortunately, there are no effective traffic management systems in place to regulate vehicle speed on this stretch. Hence, vehicles are driven on these roads with a very high speed of more than 100 Kmph in the residential areas.
He has suggested speed- breakers to slow down the vehicles in high-risk areas such as schools and residential layouts. Further, the proper marking of zebra crossing will enhance the level of safety of school children and pedestrians. Erecting clear and visible speed limit signs will also help, he said.
