PM Modi birthday celebration: BJP’s ‘Seva Saptaha’ begins

Mysuru:  Marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, the city and district unit of the BJP launched a weeklong ‘Seva Saptaha’ at all booths in the city on Saturday. 

Announcing this at a press meet at Patrakartara Bhavan yesterday, Corporator Shivakumar, who is also the City Convenor of Seva Saptaha, said that the Saptaha will be conducted in all the 797 booths in the city till Sept. 20.

While the Saptaha will be led by MLA S.A. Ramdas in KR assembly segment, the programme will be led by MLA L. Nagendra in Chamaraja assembly segment and by BJP leaders Sandesh Swamy, B.P. Manjunath and S. Murali in NR assembly segment, he said.

Highlighting the service activities that will be taken up during the Saptaha, Shivakumar said that health camps, blood donation camps, eye screening camps etc., will be conducted during the week long initiative.

The other activities include cleaning up of parks, burial grounds, temples, water bodies etc., planting of saplings, conservation of trees, creating awareness on plastic ban, rain water harvesting and other water conservation methods, nature conservation, following traffic rules, promotion of organic farming, creation of awareness on adoption of specially-abled children etc., he added.

The Saptaha Convenors Prasanna Kumar, Kiran Kumar Gowda and Nanda Kumar were present at the press meet.
