To meditate at Vivekananda Rock Memorial
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a three-day visit to Kanyakumari from May 30 on culmination of poll campaigns.
He will be visiting Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial and meditate at the Dhyan Mandapam, the same place where Swami Vivekananda is said to have attained enlightenment, at the time when the country will be voting for the last phase of Lok Sabha polls on June 1.
This rock had a major impact on Swami Vivekananda’s life. People believe that like Sarnath holds a special place in the life of Gautama Buddha, this rock also holds a similar place in the life of Swami Vivekananda. It was here that he arrived after wandering across the country and meditated for three days and attained a vision for a developed India.
According to mythology, Goddess Parvati also meditated at the same place on one foot as she waited for Bhagwan Shiv.
This is the Southern-most tip of India. Further, this is the place where India’s Eastern and Western coastlines meet. It is also the meeting point of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. PM Modi is sending a signal of national unity by going to Kanyakumari.
It may be recalled that Prime Minister Modi had visited Kedarnath soon after the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and Shivaji’s Pratapgarh in 2014.
