Mysore/Mysuru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid obeisance to Goddess Chamundeshwari at the Chamundi Hill Temple here on Monday night.
The whole of Chamundi Hill and the Temple were illuminated and decorated as part of Modi’s visit. He reached the temple at 8.30 pm where he was accorded a warm welcome by priests, including Chief Priest N. Shashishekar Dixit.
Th PM offered prayers to the Ganesha idol at the entrance. Draped in saffron shawl and dhoti, the PM entered the temple and paid obeisance to the presiding deity, Goddess Chamundeshwari. Modi offered prayers sitting near the sanctum sanctorum.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, District Minister S.T. Somashekar, MLA G.T. Devegowda, Muzrai Minister Shashikala Jolle and others were present on the occasion.
Public entry to Chamundi Hill was restricted on Monday, in the wake of Modi’s visit.
From Chamundi Hill, Modi’s convoy reached Hotel Radisson Blu Plaza, where the PM stayed overnight and took part in the International Day of Yoga (IDY) programme at Mysore Palace this morning.
Goddess Chamundi adorned with silk saree offered by PM
The idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari was adorned with the silk saree offered by the PM last evening when the VVIP visited the Chamundi Hill temple.
The saree was sent to the Temple prior to his visit and was handed over to the Temple authority by MP Pratap Simha who had earlier inspected the arrangements made at the Temple for the PM’s visit.
