Mysuru: K.M. Munigopalaraju, Director of CESC Technical Division, emphasised the cost-saving and electricity-saving benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana during the launch of the Government-subsidised ‘Solar Kit for Homes’ at a private hotel recently.
Munigopalaraju explained that households will receive a subsidy for installing solar panels on their roofs. The installation of a 1 kW solar panel typically costs between Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 55,000, with the Government providing a subsidy of approximately Rs. 30,000. Additionally, the Government will offer further savings on electricity bills through this scheme.
He also highlighted that the State Government’s ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ scheme provides 200 free units of electricity. For households using more than 200 units, the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana offers an excellent opportunity to reduce costs.

CESC Executive Engineer (Electrical) R. Poornachandra Tejaswi, Sun-AP Ecopower Limited Managing Director Srinivas, CEO Rishi and other officials were present at the event.
