Mysuru: In spite of Mysuru slipping to the fifth spot in the last Swachh Survekshan, it has not stopped the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to visit and study city’s Swachh model.
A representative from PMO visited the city and collected details about the model from Mysuru City Corporation (MCC).
According to MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, 26 cities in the country are being studied for cleanliness and the PMO representative was here in that connection. He said that the Centre planned to bring out a book on the cities which have successfully implemented the Swachh concepts and Mysuru is likely to feature in that book.
The Commissioner said that this time more observers have been deputed by the Centre for evaluating the facts. The official also inspected the infrastructure established for handling solid waste management.
Meanwhile, the Swachh Survekshan-2018 team associated with Karvy Infrastructure Limited, which has been tasked by the Union Ministry of Urban Development, have visited the solid waste management plants, toilets and selected places to interact and receive feedbacks.
The documents collected had been uploaded to the New Delhi office and the details furnished were being verified, said Jagadeesha.
