Mysuru: Akhila Bharata Sharana Sahitya Parishat had organised a recitation and discussion on ‘Basava Mahadarshana’ written by Dr. Latha Rajashekar as part of the Ambigarahalli Kaveramma Krishnegowda Endowment Programme at Rajendra Bhavan in JSS Hospital premises here yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, writer Prof. K. Bhyravamurthy opined that ‘Basava Mahadarshana’ of Dr. Latha Rajashekar mirrored the philosophy and ideologies of Basavanna and hence, hailed it as a true epic par excellence. He said that the Vachana Movement launched by Basavanna in 12th century to solve social problems is relevant eternally.
Inaugurating the programme, former MLA Vasu recalled his long association with Dr. Latha and her husband Dr. Rajashekar and appreciated the excellent support and encouragement extended by Dr. Rajashekar for Dr. Latha.
The poems of the epic were recited by Annapurna Nagendra and explained by Dr. Jyoti Shankar. Retd. Prasaranga Director K.T. Veerappa, former Legislator Thontadarya, Parishat City Wing President G.R. Parameshwarappa, Secretary Mahadevappa, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, former President M. Chandrashekar and others were present.
