Police arrest woman, her brother and four others for strangling her husband

Maddur: A woman, her brother and four of his friends have been arrested by Kesthur Police for allegedly strangling her husband recently.

Uma, the woman in question was married to Ramesh and residing at Athagur village in the taluk and was being reportedly harassed by Ramesh. The dejected Uma was learnt to have asked her brother Mohan to teach a lesson and correct Ramesh. Accordingly, Mohan along with his friends Yogesh, Abhi and Chetan reportedly took Ramesh on Nov.23 to Shivapura, got him drunk and left him on Athagur Road after badly assaulting him.

Villagers on seeing the badly hurt Ramesh shifted him to his house. Uma instead of rushing Ramesh to a hospital teamed with one Gurusiddaiah, another friend of her brother and allegedly strangled Ramesh. Hoodwinking the villagers that Ramesh had died of natural reasons, Uma got the body cremated.

Suspecting a foul play Ramesh’s sister Yashoda lodged a complaint with Kesthur Police who have arrested Uma, Mohan, Abhi, Chetan, Gurusiddaiah and Yogesh. The murder plot got exposed during interrogation.
