Mysuru: Children at ‘Chinnara Mela’ were witness to a dog show conducted by the Mysuru City Police. The Police personnel demonstrated how the dogs were used in crime investigation, bomb detection and narcotics.
The Police Dogs, Rashmi and Burfi, demonstrated the thefts detection. Police personnel, who acted as thieves, had hid the stolen materials between the children watching from gallery. The dogs, sniffing through detected the materials and when the ‘thief’ tried to escape the Rashmi (sniffer dog) caught hold of him. The children at the venue jumped with excitement and clapped appreciating the dog’s intelligence.
Next it was the turn of Seema and Raksha, which have the expertise in detecting explosives (crackers) buried below the ground and that was followed by Gaja, another sniffer dog, which detected the narcotics.
The dogs also saluted to the audiences at the beginning and end of the show. The children also took the opportunity to play with dogs. In fact some of them even tried to train the dogs.
