Mysore/Mysuru: Following revelations related to drug mafia in Bengaluru, city Police on Sunday, conducted a special operation against drug peddlers in the city.
Following instructions from City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta, a Special Police Team comprising 90 Police personnel, led by City Crime Branch (CCB) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mariyappa and supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dr. A.N. Prakash Gowda, raided suspected ganja peddling places in Narasimharaja (NR), Mandi Mohalla, Udayagiri and Alanahalli Police limits besides raiding the houses of suspects and habitual drug peddlers arrested in the past.
However, no narcotic substances were found during the raids. As the drug-related news are being telecast in media, some of the habbitual drug peddlers had already vacated their houses.
The Special Police Team included NR Inspector G. Shekar, Mandi Inspector Narayan Swamy, Metagalli Inspector A. Mallesh, V.V. Puram Inspector L. Arun, Economic Offences and Drugs Prohibition Wing Inspector H.R. Vivekananda and Jagadish from CCB.
The City Police Commissioner has stated that such special operations would continue in city and has requested the public to call City Police Control Room on Ph: 100 or 0821-2418339 if they come across ganja and other narcotics being peddled, transported or stored, according to a press release from the PRO, City Police Commissioner’s Office, Mysuru.
