Mysuru: A 40-year-old man, who was watching a marble game by sitting on the compound, fell down and died after the Police raided the spot in Mandi Mohalla last evening.
The deceased has been identified as Siraj Pasha (40), a TV mechanic by profession.
Acting on a tip off that gambling was taking place at a vacant site in Sunni Chowk, the Police raided the place only to find some people playing marbles. Due to the sudden entry of Police, Siraj, who was sitting on the compound of the vacant site, reportedly jumped down from the compound resulting in him sustaining injuries, it is learnt.
According to the complaint lodged by Siraj’s brother Babu, Siraj was sitting on the compound and was watching people playing marbles when the Police arrived. He (Siraj) while running away, collapsed and died.
N.R. Sub-Division ACP Gopal, speaking to Star of Mysore said that the Police received information about gambling taking place in the vacant site and the Police arrived at the place when Siraj Pasha, who was sitting on the compound, fell down. He was taken to the hospital by his brother Babu but Siraj had died by then.
The ACP further said that the relatives of Siraj have lodged a complaint and the Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
