BJP leaders Tejasvi Surya & K. Annamalai complete Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Goa

Bengaluru: Bengaluru South BJP MP Tejasvi Surya and former Tamil Nadu BJP State President K. Annamalai completed the gruelling fifth edition of Ironman 70.3 triathlon held in Goa yesterday, finishing the race within the official 8.5-hour time limit.

The Ironman 70.3 is one of the world’s most demanding endurance events, comprising a 1.9 km swim, 90 km cycling and a 21.1 km run. Out of nearly 1,300 participants from 31 countries this year, 805 managed to cross the finish line within the allotted time.

While Tejasvi Surya, who had also taken part in the last edition, completed the challenge in 7 hours, 49 minutes and 6 seconds, Annamalai, participating for the first time, clocked 8 hours, 13 minutes and 55 seconds.

Prime Minister  NarendraModi also congratulated the participants, praising the growing enthusiasm among young Indians for fitness challenges.

“Glad to see increased participation by our youth in events like Ironman 70.3 which was held in Goa today. Such events contribute towards #FitIndia movement. Congratulations to everyone who took part. Delighted that two                                                  of our young Party colleagues, Annamalai and Tejasvi Surya are among those who have successfully completed the Ironman Triathlon,” PM Modi tweeted.
