The poll authorities have issued notice to Nanjangud by-poll Congress candidate Kalale Keshavamurthy for failing to take permission for holding a poll rally.
Kalale Keshavamurthy is accused of holding a poll rally at Hosaveedu in Nanjangud taluk on Mar. 25 without taking the permission of poll authorities, in violation of poll code.
Keshavamurthy has been asked to reply to the notice in writing within seven days or else legal action will be taken against him, the notice said.
EC notice to Prasad: G. Jagadeesha, Returning Officer, Nanjangud Assembly constituency, issued notice to former Minister and BJP candidate V. Sreenivasa Prasad following reports of him handing over Rs. 100 to an elderly woman during the campaigning at his constituency.
The Returning Officer has also sought a written explanation from the candidate as why a legal action must not be initiated against him for allegedly violating the election code of conduct.
