Mysuru: The valedictory ceremony of the 7th National Conference on Novel Polymeric Materials (POLYCON-2017) was held recently at JSS Technical Institutions’ Campus, Mysuru, under the aegis of the Department of Polymer Science and Technology, Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), JSS Science & Technology University, Mysuru.
Prof. S. M. Shivaprasad, Director, Karnataka State Higher Education Academy, Dharwad and Professor, JNCASR, Bengaluru, who was the chief guest highlighted the significance of recent research trends including the nano-technology and insisted the researchers to be exposed to life along with cultural values and spirituality.
U. K. Shenoy, Vice-President (Works), J.K. Tyre, Mysuru, who was the guest of honour, briefed on the efforts by various industries and sectors in uplifting the GDP, efforts towards green technologies, etc., with statistics.
Participants shared their experience and best paper prizes were awarded to the works related to high-performance coatings, bio-degradable polymeric nano-particles, nano-structured lipid carrier for treating schizophrenia, shape memory polyurethanes.
Dr. T. N. Nagabhushan, Principal, SJCE, also spoke. Prof. Siddaramaiah, Organising Secretary, Polycon-2017, presented the conference report and mentioned that about 200 plus members were present in the event from various industries and institutes from different parts of the country. Among them, the 120 delegates presented their research findings, 8 plenary talks, 30 invited talks, 70 oral presentations and 45 poster presentations through the parallel technical sessions.
Prof. K. S. Lokesh, Registrar, JSS Science & Technology University, presided over the event. Dr. G.M. Shashidhara, Chairman, Polycon-2017, welcomed.
