Mysuru: The newly constructed Double Road adjoining Dhanvanthri Road and Irwin Road in front of J.K. Grounds was inaugurated by District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa here on Friday last. The road has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 65 lakh and is installed with heritage ornate lamps.
People who have been have been commuting on these roads are a disappointed lot as they feel that the lamps do not emit enough light to illuminate the road. Though, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar has tried to give heritage look to the roads located in his ward, it has not worked.
There have been several complaints, especially by women, about them facing problems to commute on Dhanvanthri Road, Irwin Road and on Chamaraja Double Roads after dark. With the illumination on the road is of poor quality, they fear of being attacked by anti-social elements. People have been asking the MCC to reinstall sodium lights instead of the LED bulbs to ensure there is enough light.
