The three-day Poorvaranga Utsava organised by Rangayana will be held from Apr. 5 to Apr. 7. The theatre festival will be inaugurated by Andolana Editor Rajashekar Koti. Senior Theatrist Prof. H.S. Umesh will be the chief guest.
The event will be presided by Kannada and Culture Director K.A. Dayanand. Kannada and Culture Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjuna Swamy, Rangayana Deputy Director Nirmala Matapathi and Co-ordinator S. Ramnath will be present.
The festival will feature students of the Bharatiya Ranga Shikshana Kendra staging three different plays:
Apr. 5: Staging of ‘Oedipus’ written by Sophocles and ‘Anthigone’ written Jeen Anvi; Directed by Umesh Saliyan.
Apr. 6: Staging of ‘Bekku-Bavi’ written by S. Balurao; Directed by Jeevan Kumar B. Heggodu.
Apr. 7: Staging of ‘Mricchakatika’ written by Shudraka; Directed by S. Malathi Sagara.
The plays will be staged from 6 pm every day and entry for public is free.
