Mysore/Mysuru: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) has urged the Karnataka Government to postpone the K-SET and COMED-K exams scheduled on July 30, 31 and August 1, 2020, in the wake of a surge in COVID-19 cases day by day in the State.
In a press release, NSUI National Secretary Mamatha Nerlige has expressed concern over rapid spike in positive cases across the nation. “We have watched Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar saying ‘Karnataka’s COVID-19 tally may double in 15-30 days’ and Health Minister B. Sriramulu saying ‘Only God can save us.’ Amidst all these circumstances, the Government is putting 1.94 lakh students, faculties, and their families’ health at risk by conducting K-SET and COMED-K examinations,” the press release observed.
Also, due to lockdown, many rural students had no adequate access to coaching and are unprepared, NSUI National Secretary said and urged Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Primary and Secondary Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar and Higher Education Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan to reconsider their decision and postpone the exams keeping in mind the safety of students.
