Pourakarmikas to stage stir from July 1 till demands are met

Mysore/Mysuru: Demanding regularisation of jobs of direct payment pourakarmikas, UGD Assistants and drivers of garbage transport vehicles, members of Karnataka State City Corporation, City Municipal Council, Town Municipal Council Pourakarmika Association will stage an indefinite protest in front of all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the State from July 1.

Disclosing this at a press meet held at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, Association President N. Mara said that over 38,400 pourakarmikas including 2,044 in Mysuru will stage protests from July 1.

Pointing out that the Association members will stage protests after suspending all UGD,                 cleaning, garbage collection and other works to exert pressure on the Government, Mara said that all 2,044 contract Pourakarmikas in Mysuru will take part in the protest.

Permanent Pourakarmikas will join the protest from the fourth day of the stir if the Chief Minister fails to respond to the protestors within the first three days of the protest, he added.

MCC Permanent Pourakarmikas and Contract Pourakarmikas Mahasangha President N. Mohankumar, General Secretaries T. Srinivas and C.R. Rachaiah, District President Cheluvaraju and others were present at the press meet.
