Mysore/Mysuru: Good news for contract Pourakarmikas of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) — MCC will directly credit the wages to their bank accounts from April.
The MCC’s move comes even as Contract Pourakarmika Mahasangha had planned to stage a strike seeking the same. MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag after coming to know of the proposed stir, held a meeting with Pourakarmika leaders at her office here on Friday.
Shilpa Nag said that the delay in direct credit of wages was due to some technical issues. Now, the wages will be directly credited to the accounts of contract Pourakarmikas starting from April and at the same time, bio-metric attendance will be introduced, according to the Mahasangha President N. Mara.
The MCC Council meeting held on Oct. 8, 2020, had passed a resolution on direct credit of wages of 839 contract Pourakarmikas approved by the DC and 724 others listed by the Council, with effect from Mar.1, 2021. But as the MCC failed to honour the Council resolution by not making direct wage credit in March, the Mahasangha had planned to stage a protest.
However, the Mahasangha has warned of staging an indefinite stir in April if the MCC fails to keep its promise.
