Mysuru: “Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, a flagship scheme of the Government for pregnant women and lactating mothers should reach all sections of the society. For this reason, we have organised this programme,” said Women and Child Development Department Deputy Director K. Padma.
She was speaking at a programme, Surakshita Janani – Vikasita Dharani, organised by District Administration in association with Zilla Panchayat, Department of Women and Child Development and Department of Health and Family Welfare at JSS Hospital recently. The programme was held as part of Matru Vandana Week, a week-long maternity benefit programme.
“As under-nutrition and anaemia continue to adversely affect majority of women in India. Not only APL and BPL card-holding pregnant women, even those who do not have ration card can get the maternity benefits provided by the administration,” she added.
District Health Education Officer Dr. Prakash, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at JSS Hospital Dr. K.B. Suma, Child Development Project Officer Manjula V. Patil, Convenor of week-long maternity benefit programme K. Avinash and others were present.
