Bengaluru: Member of the erstwhile royal family Pramoda Devi Wadiyar has urged the State Government to stop illegal mining at Baby Betta land in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district and has asked the Government to issue Khatha for the 1,500 odd acres in her name as it is a private property belonging to Wadiyar family.
Meeting Chief Secretary K. Ratna Prabha at the Vidhana Soudha yesterday, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar also told her that Doddakere Maidan in front of the Karnataka Exhibition Authority in Mysuru also belonged to the royal family and even the Courts have given favourable judgements to the royal family.
She urged the Chief Secretary to direct the Mysuru District Administration to issue Khatha for the land.
At her meeting with Ratna Prabha, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar submitted relevant documents to prove the ownership of Baby Betta and Doddakere Maidan. Urging her to take immediate steps to stop illegal quarrying at Baby Betta, Pramoda Devi said that she had already approached the Tahsildar, Deputy Commissioner and the Revenue Secretary urging them to issue Khatas.
It may be recalled here that a letter written on Feb.23, addressed to Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, Pramoda Devi has said that the Khatha has to be issued in respect of Survey Number 1, Amruthamahal Kaval (Baby Betta). The RTC pertaining to Baby Beta stands in the name of Amruthamahal Kaval that belongs to the Maharajas of Mysuru and the property forms the part of the list of private properties of the Maharaja of Mysuru as on 26.01.1950, she had stated.
