Mysuru: Vidushi Prarthana Sai Narasimhan from Chennai will perform at Alwar Kalabhavan in Gokulam 3rd Stage at 6 pm today as part of Sri Krishna Ganasabha’s three-day celebrations from Mar.8 to Mar. 10.
She will be accompanied by Vid. C.N. Thyagarajan on violin, Vid. P.S. Sridhar on mridanga and Vid. V.S. Ramesh on ghata.
On Mar.10 at 10 am, Vidushi Manasi Prasad will sing, accompanied by Vid. H.K. Narasimha Murthy on violin, Vid. Radhesh on mridanga and S. Manjunath on ghata. Goshtigayana will be held at 9.30 am on account of Purandara – Thyagaraja Aradhana Mahotsava.
Profile: Prarthana is among the finest young Karnatak vocalists. Born in a musically inclined family (1983) at Suratkal, Mangaluru, Prarthana had her initiation into music by her parents — P. Nityananda Rao, a Yakshagana singer and Krishnakumari, a trained Karnatak vocalist. She moved to Chennai in 1996 to learn from Padma Shri Dr. Mani Krishnaswami. Later she underwent advanced training in music from Sangeetha Kala Acharya Chingleput Ranganathan (2000 to 2011). She has thus become a heir to Alathur Bani. She has given more than 500 concerts and conducted over 25 workshops.
Manasi Prasad is a combination of an accomplished singer, eloquent orator and arts manager. She is one of the best known faces among the new generation of Karnatak musicians and is the Museum Director of the Indian Music Experience, India’s first interactive Music Museum.
Manasi’s gurus include Ganakalabushana R.K. Padmanabha in Bengaluru and Dr. Sriram Parasuram in Chennai. As a performing artiste for over 25 years now, Manasi has travelled extensively in her career, across India and the world. Manasi has performed at leading sabhas such as the Madras Music Academy December season, Shanmukhananda Fine Arts Mumbai, Bangalore Gayana Samaja, Swathi Sangeethotsavam inThiruvanathapuram etc.
