Mysore/Mysuru: Prashanthi Sansthan hosted a dance festival called ‘Prapatthi’ on Aug. 11 at Ganabharathi’s Ramagovinda Kalavedike. The organisation has branches in Mysuru and Bengaluru and offers online classes too. Harshini Purushothama has been conducting Bharatanatyam classes for 11 years now.
Guru Vid. K. Sandesh Bhargav (Vice-President Strategy, Solution and Transformation, Neo Tangent – a Li & Fung company; a Bharatanatyam exponent) inaugurated the event. Dr. Deepak Bhat (Professor in Sanskrit at Yuvaraja’s College, Mysuru; a Sanskrit scholar) was the chief guest. Dr. Jyothi Shankar (Professor in Kannada at KSOU, Mysuru) presided.
Guru Vandana was offered to Guru Sandesh Bhargav at the beginning of the event. About 30 students of Prashanthi Sansthan (disciples of Harshini Purushothama) presented Bharatanatyam recital for 1.5 hours.
Performance repertoire consisted of Melaprapthi followed by Eka Shloki Ramayana, Jatiswara in Raga Hamsanandi, Shabdam (Sarasijakshulu), Kriti written by Shatavadhani R. Ganesh (Tatwartha Sangnyaapaka) in Raga Poorvikalyani, Mahalakshmi Ashtaka, Devaranama (Aadidano Ranga), Thillana in Raga Kaanada.
