Mysuru-born International Monetary Fund Chief Economist Gita Gopinath was conferred the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2019 in the category of Academics. She was not able to receive the award in India as she was busy with her work with IMF. Hence, the award was presented yesterday (May 9) at the Embassy of India Washington D.C. USA.
Gita Gopinath is seen receiving the medal and certificate from Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Ambassador of India. Gita’s father T.V. Gopinath and mother V.C. Vijayalakshmi were also present at the award ceremony.
