In a tragic incident, a pregnant lady died after the car in which she was travelling along with her husband, veered off the road on the Outer Ring Road near Manasi Nagar here yesterday afternoon.

The unfortunate victim of the tragedy has been identified as Roopa (37), wife of Madhusudhan, a resident of Raghavendranagar in city.

It is reported that Madhusudhan, along with his wife Roopa and her sister Rekha had been to a bank and after finishing their work, Madhusudhan and Roopa, dropped Rekha to the Beauty Parlour which she was running and proceeded to Manasi Nagar to see a site for Rekha.

Madhusudhan told SOM that after seeing the site, he and his wife were returning home on the Ring Road and took a ‘U’ turn to join the service road. As there was a vehicle coming from the opposite direction, Madhusudhan said that he moved the car to his left and the left side wheel of the car went into a ditch and car fell off the service road about  8 to 10 ft. below, resulting in his pregnant wife going for a shock falling unconscious.

Soon, passersby, who saw the incident, rushed to the couple’s rescue and a school van, which was passing by, shifted the couple to Columbia Asia Hospital, where Roopa was declared brought dead and Madhusudhan was treated for injuries.

Meanwhile, post-mortem was conducted at MMC&RI mortuary and the body was handed over to Roopa’s relatives this morning.
